Aging Plans–Family Planning for Future Care Needs of Aging Parents Many adult children with aging parents feel overwhelmed and stressed about what to do to keep their aging parent safe. A tool that can make this job easier is an "Aging Plan." An Aging Plan provides clear directions for various scenarios that the older adult may face (safety issues living at home, driving, etc.) and allows the older adult to determine their destiny by making their wants known. It can also include a decision-making process for family members and parents to follow. This interactive session will introduce the concept of an Aging Plan and the essential elements that should be included. Current caregivers can utilize this tool for themselves. How to begin conversations of an Aging Plan with parents and children will also be shared. April 10th, 2007, Oregon State University Geronotology Conference, Corvallis, Oregon. |
